Varnished gas stink

What's the "half life" on varnished gas smell?

I bought a neglected chainsaw at an auction over the weekend. Gassed it up with my "magic mix" (gasoline mixed about 10:1 with Berrymans B-12 Chemtool, then 2-stroke oil added at 40:1), and it runs like a new saw.

It just STINKS! Seems to be getting worse the more I run the saw.

well, since you asked ?. I'd say just stay upwind, run 'er, keep the chain sharp, cut lots of wood, keep going with fresh gas until the smell goes away ?.

Bad gas can screw up a motor. I would have flushed the tank and carb out with carb and choke cleaner before trying to use it.

So your magic mix is Berryman at 10-1? So about
12 ounces per gallon of gas? I know nothing of this
product but did look it up. Info I found was 1 ounce
per gallon of fuel. Am I missing something here?
40/1 may or may not be right, depending on the
saw. More oil is not always better. Mid grade gas
and proper oil ratio is what cools a two stroke saw.
At 50/1 that's very little oil for lubtcation. Cooling of
a 2 stroke also does a majority of the work.
Are you sure the smell is varnish or your magic
mix?
Just my thoughts,
