I needed to make a piece of sheetmetal for my AC I-400. I carefully laid it out using layout blueing. I removed the blueing and sanded the
piece. After 3 coats of primer and 2 coats of color the blueing still shows through.I guess I will have to strip it down and start over.

If you used "tool and dye ink" like Dykem then methanol, ethanol, 91 percent isopranol, lacquer thinner or even acetone should remove it. Some of these layout inks contain nitrocellulose, but the previously mentioned solvents should remove it especially lacquer thinner. Nitrocellulose lacquer does not harden like enamels, polyurethanes, or alkyds. I found that out many, many years ago.

Ellis ..... where in the world would a guy get any of that these days? Maybe some old and retired school teachers swiped a can or so from the copy room back in the early 70's for gas line antifreeze. I had a good laugh at your post. I remember those copiers for sure (if they are the same thing that I am thinking of).
