Some great prices, I wonder how the guys raising beef are making out with everything,
probably struggling I would think, especially the small guys?

They sell some down in Texas. Meat prices are twice as much as those down in Houston. Your lucky if you can find ground beef for less than $2/pound

They sell certain items at a loss in order to get customers in the store, who then buy other things.

Beef prices aren't too bad. Not what they were 5 years ago, but we may never see that again.

Edit to above: While prices aren't bad, I've never made a profit raising beef cattle.

US meat storage is close to full, I suspect the lesser cuts of beef and most pork is being sold off to make room in storage for the most expensive cuts of beef. It's good for the consumers.

I was in school in 1985, buying ground beef at the corner butcher shop for $2.00 / lb. just about everything else has doubled since. And, I am
still hearing about people going hungry because they can?t afford food.

To be fair, we sold out 25 years ago and I’m still buying equipment every year. $9000 in tractor repairs one year didn’t help either.

I Agree,, if that was the case no one would raise them and here where I am at Cattle are King! I sell 200-400 tons of hay a year to cattle men,, been doing it for over 40 years,, I know people who thought they were farmers that lost their butts also but again they "Thought" they were Farmers which they were not at all, cattle are good money out here IF You know what you are doing but that goes with any type of business

Yeah, but they can afford beer, cigarettes, and a 75" tv.
