Rusty grader pictures

Saw this old grader at a neighboring property and it was too cool to not take some pictures.

I have been around a lot of machinery but that thing looks like it might just be a one of a kind or home built. Definitely has factory chain boxes and bent frame but a lot of the rest looks home built. Must have been before hydraulics looking at all the wheel controls. I assume the motor sat in the rear frame there.

The engine that is in it is a flathead inline 6. I saw it while out checking on my fence lines and went over to look at it. I don't think it was home built, but who knows... it says on the side "Austin-Western Motor Grader Co"

It does not look like any Austin-Western grader I've ever seen. I'm guessing it's from the twenties, if not earlier. Austin-Western was formed in 1901. They started building four-wheel drive/four-wheel steering graders in 1937, so this machine is probably much older than that.

Now that's an awesome li'l grader!!

Thanks for the pics. Sure hope you're able to get it and restore. That's quite a piece of Americana.
