yea, i'm a glutton for punishment !!! bought another deere. has a seized engine. the head was off when i bought it and seems to be seized pretty tight, want to put head back on so i can fill with fluid to soak. my question is does the head go in over top of the frame ? i tried to put it in from bottom like the B, but didn't want to go. also, could there be another reason why it won't turn ? i ask because the cylinders and head seem awfully clean to be lock so tight.

If the cylinders look clean, as in no evidence of a water line where rain or coolant has been sitting and rusting, chances are it is seized for some other reason.

Try rocking the pistons in the cylinders. Watch closely while pushing at the top and bottom of the piston. You should be able to see a slight movement. If any movement, they are not stuck.

Try turning the flywheel each direction, if it will turn at all, start investigating what is stopping it. Could be in the transmission. If no movement at all, look for a bad engine bearing.

Take the crankcase cover off and look at the connecting rods. See if you can move them back and forth on the crankshaft. You can usually move them side ways a little bit.
