Anyone ever heard of them? I sent a load of small squares to RI last week and heard today from my buyer that the customer is getting bit up by hay mites. Now the Amish lad that helped me load and I did get itchy from something. I never gave it much thought, there's a million things in hay that will make you itchy. I guess I found a million and one. I'm not going to send anymore hay until cold weather.

We used to have something called oat bugs. Tiny black critters, I think in the summer, haying, no idea what they were but they really itched. REALLY!

I heard my Uncle talk many times about chiggers along the river on a place they used to own when haying,, but never from the hay,, but then that would not have been fed til winter so maybe thats why

I never heard of it either, so I looked it up. Sure enough, it's not too uncommon, or so they say.

Hay buyers have 4011 reasons your hay is not up to their standards to talk down the price. Had one start throwing bales off the truck that he didn't like and I was selling it as mulch hay.
