886/4440 front fenders?

When we bought one of the 4440?s in the late 80?s it came with metal front fenders. I have always assumed they were a dealer option - they
have the Deere logo on the back side facing the cab. They are really slick - they mount to the steering arm and have diamond plate flat steel
tops and a step down the back where the mud flap bolts on. They make working on it and fueling it really easy.

This time of the year I always find myself wishing the ih 886 had some to keep the mud from the pens from flying all over the cab when I chore.
Did IH ever have that type front fender available as an option? I tried searching for them but didn?t come up with anything. I?ve never seen
another two wheel drive Deere of that era have front fenders either, though.

This it them (internet photo) although I think mine have less of a metal lip down parallel with the tire sidewall. Pretty much the design, though.

Aftermarket.Back in the early 80s,I won a set of those front fenders at a dealer 'open house'.they were made by Year A Round.I never put them on. Eventually I hauled them to the sale. They were shown on Year A Round literature of the day, along with cabs and other 'stuff'.

My dad bought a 4430 that came with those fenders. They were Hinicker. He liked them to stand on for refueling but hated them in mud. He used to say the mud would ball up inside the fenders and plug up. He ended up taking them off. They're still buried out in the barn were he left them. I don't have any pictures of them. I've been thinking of getting them out and putting them back on the tractor. I don't use that tractor in mud like it used to get used for.

Dad got a set of frt fenders for the 4010 when he bought it December of '68, think they were Year-A-Round. Had to take them off to put the frt mounted cultivator on, put them back on the first year, '69. Second year they got taken off and never put back on. Tractor had 11Lx15 tires, had to use the W-I-D-E version, they really seemed to reach out for the fences when turning on headlands.
The 4010 never did chores, never did much road work, think I took it the 5 miles to town for hog feeds once, front fenders filled a need we really didn't have.

I'm sure there's a pair sitting in the corner of somebody's shed. The Y-a-R fenders were universal fit, but available in OEM colors.

There is a guy making them in NW Iowa or SW Minnesota, he has a listing on craigslist awhile back 3-4 months, think he wants $400-600 a pair.

I built the ones on my 931 from the pic. that Steve posted here. I also built the steps and fabricated a door on the RH side of cab allowing entry/exit from either side. I also fabed up the cab visors with the built in lights.
