Starter troubles...

Hi all,
I've picked up a couple fergy 28's, one of them runs well, the other one I've just been able to start today. The first is ID by air cleaner mounted on dash, other one appears to be the 80mm tractor(but didn't come with a starter). I have found though that I cant fit a starter on as the engine starter mount will only accommodate the 12v starter, but bell housing only takes the 6v starter. There are also a few bolts missing around starter...
How can I mount a 6v starter onto this engine, mounted on a fergy 24 tranny?
I'd appreciate any help!
Thanks!
Joshua

If the 12v starter would work correctly if it was able to mount up, I would modify the bell housing by removing material as needed to clear. If that caused a hole to be made in the housing it creates a situation of choice Keep it stock looking (kinda) or do it and make a tin, or fiberglass cover for the hole. If a different starter drive would make it work, or the starter drive could be reduced where it contacts the housing maybe both features could be incorporated. If the mesh of the 12v starter is fully into or beyond the ring gear, a spacer might be made to pull it back a couple of millimeters (washers would look ugly. Jim
