Internet coupled to cell phone

Had to get different cell phone due to cleaning process. Think the spin cycle is the problem!! Have noticed some discussing internet coupled to home wireless internet. How does one do this? My phone now is a so called smart phone. Please do not comment about the user~!!

There is a hotspot setting that let's you communicate with the computer once you pair them. Pretty much like a Bluetooth earbud.

Are you talking about using your "smart phone" for providing internet to your PC?? Or are you talking about somehow getting your cellular calls through your PC?

We have cellular internet. When we run out of 4G time on the phone box, I sometimes try to get a signal on the wife's Samsung phone. I have to go into Settings, choose a couple of options, then Enable the phone as a Hotspot - meaning that the phone works like a data modem between the cell tower and your PC.

We have wifi in the house , and it has decent range, my cell phone can pick it up quite a ways away from the house outside. With wifi , you go to settings on your phone , and turn on wifi, and your phone will pickup any available signal. And it will ask if you want to join. You press yes, and it will ask for your wifi password, type that in and , your phone will pickup the wireless signal. It will work the same way in hotels or restaurants that offer free wifi.
If you buy a package with data from your cellular provider, you can use satellite internet, but don?t exceed you data limit, it will cost you big $$$

After you swipe phone to unlock it, pull down the front screen. Then turn on WiFi mode. The icon on my phone for WiFi are curved lines shaped in a V shape. The first icon on top right. That links phone to internet and you won't use phone's data when on internet.

IF all else fails goes to the store where you bought the phone and ask or ask a kid.

I'm a fan of Verizon because Verizon backs up all my phone #. I can lose phone or sim card goes bad, I still have all my # backed up online.

Lookout is a free app that can locate you lost phone by using another smartphone or computer Must have app.

If you have wifi at home you can get it on your phone too. You'll have to find the password to your router and log in the first time but then you can get internet on your phone.
I am with T Mobile. Pay about $55/month for unlimited everything. If you are over 55 they give you unlimited High Speed data on your phone for no extra charge. It is actually faster than WiFi.
I use my phone for everything now. Watch videos, news, read and post here at YT, post pictures, everything - from Anywhere - Dr's office, home depot, resturaunt, even in my deer stand.

The use of your WiFi and phone is typically called WiFi Calling. Most providers have it but not all phones do. My previous phone could not do it but I wanted it on my latest phone, a MOTO. The phone easily goes from Cell to WiFi and I never experience any problem. In most cases, the WiFi connection is no big deal since they are all pretty much unlimited minutes for talk and text. Where it really works well is when one travels. When I was in Ireland, a few months ago, cell was free for text and data but calls were $0.25 or so per minute. Off goes the cell connection and on goes the WiFi. In a bar or hotel or Hostel, I could make a call to the U.S.A. for no charge and it was clear as a bell. Same for traveling in the US. No cell service, no problem, find a McDonald Restaurant and have at it.

Even worked well in Cancun where I used a Burger King WiFi.

On my phone you go to SETTINGS then WiFi (turn it ON) and it shows any available networks, just click on the one you want.........? Youre like me were 50's kinda guys in this new millennium just tryin to get by. If this don't work ask any grandchild over say 4 years old they can do it.

it seems to work when I called myself on land line.. Thanks to all who replied. John T would you reply by e mail on where you bought home. Thanks.

"If this don't work ask any grandchild over say 4 years old they can do it." Yepper. I know of an instance where a 6 year old told his mama how to operate her cell phone when she was having problems. Geez this sure beats me when I was growing up, playing with my toy dump trucks in the sand piles going vroom vroom...... Who knows where their minds will be when they grow up....way ahead of mine I'm sure.
