Stink bugs have arrived

We used to have Asian Ladybug invasion after the fields around us were harvested. Now after harvest it's Stink bugs trying to get in house.

Stink bugs get in pole barn and look for some place to spend the winter. One time they got inside my heat gun. I needed to warm up some O rings when rebuilding a hydraulic cylinder in the winter. Didn't take long to smell toasted stink bugs. Keep heat gun in a sealed tool box.

Do stink bugs have a predator?

How are stink bugs in your area?

I've had a few stink bugs. Now the fields are harvested, they are looking for a winter home. We spray the house. Have to look at door before we come in. Sometimes they get on you to get in.

There is a rattlesnake spider with a big web in my open shop door. When a stink bug flies into it, the spider runs down and kicks it out of the web. Smart spider.

We have a few stink bug but not bad yet. The bug we dread is the ones that look like ladybugs. They are more of a problem than stink bugs.

Not sure of the brand but it is the 12 month whole house spray. I get it at my hardware store but many places like Walmart has it. The trick it to spray all baseboards, ceiling perimeter, room corners, around windows and doors. Keep your pets away till it dries. About an hour or two. I hate spiders and that is the main reason I spray. But it works on many insects!

We have the Asian beetles also. There are a couple of native species that closely resemble the stink bug, and I think that's what I see up here now and then, but those Asian beetles are what's nasty here. One winter, found a single mass of Asian beetles in the basement that was nearly 3 cubic feet! I finally ended up tossing the shop vac that sucked them up. Just couldn't get the stench out!

Unless we get an indian summer, it turned cold too quickly this year for any of those bugs to be a problem. Yea!!

Yes and yes. Think i read that there is some type of wasp in asia but not sure. Over here there is nothing to kill them. They started somewhere near Allentown,PA. Shipping pallet from asia.

I use brake cleaner to kill the nasties. It will knock them down and kill them in about 10 seconds. I also have some lights over a pan of soapy water in each of my shops that I leave on all night. They seam to be drawn to all the doors of the house and the shop. I will do a search and destroy walk with my spray can of brake cleaner and catch them waiting to fly into the house or shop. I have also taken a plastic pop bottle and cut the top 1/4 off and invert it into the base of the bottle. Tape the around the edges and use it as a catcher for the stinkers that manage to get into the house.

I really hate the little %#*&%@......

I believe it was in western Washington or Oregon where some parasitic wasps from Asia were released. Apparently they only prey on stink bugs.

We have had the Asian ladybugs the past few years pretty bad. They aren't or haven't been as bad this year. The stink bugs are bad this year though. We are finding them everywhere. I'm in southern middle Tennessee.
