Farm Aid???

For many years there were big concerts in the heartland where the singers donated all their earnings from ticket sales to help struggling farmers. Anyone ever know someone personally that received any Aid from any of this money? I remember some of these early concerts being quite large. Al
 
I tuned in for a little bit . It was anti gmo organic hippie fest felt like I?d just put it on cnn turned it off and didn?t put it back just a bunch of crappy music from the new country garbage anyway..
 
Well, it seems whenever money is handed out, some or all of it goes into the wrong hands or to the wrong places. I am sure some money went to farmers. But how much of it really did any good is the question. I am sure they like to think they saved a few farmers. And maybe they did. But even if all the money went to farmers, how much of it did any good??? Like as in, the person didn't end up saving the farm anyways. Or maybe blowed it on something else. Or maybe didn't even need it in the beginning. Where the money went was likely decided by someone who was not farm oriented, and didn't know who it would save and who it wouldn't, or how to go about handing it out.
 
My understanding is that a few individual farmers were helped at first, then the money was given to more general ag promotion issues. Whatever that is. Mostly a feel-good thing for those who went to the shows.
 
I heard this years Farm Aid concert was in Hartford, Conn. Are there lots of farmers near Hartford. Willie was there touring at advanced age. Don't know anyone who is older than Willie N that still goes on concert tours.

i haven't followed farm aid for quite some time as it has seemed to become a big hippie anti modern farming love fest. But back in the early 90's I donated some money to it when I was in the navy and I actually got a letter from them written by my best friends dad about what they were doing and so forth. Thought it eas pretty cool.
 
I went ..well was told by the wife were going to the one in Chicago a few years back. The whole place was full of hippies and tree huggers. I have never seen so much pot in my life! ( I went to collage in the 90s and been to several Tom Petty shows) For the most part the music was good except for Neil young, his entire set was complaining about Monsanto and why cant you keep round beans for seed. I bet he would not like you copying his sh.ty music and giving it away.
I have heard Johnny Cougars brother in law got some money. Their farm seem to get big fast.
 
If any farmers around me got any money, they would probably use it to buy fuel for their houseboat or motorhome.
 
Your 8$ hamburger makes me chuckle. I recently went to McDonalds in London, Canada. 2 quarter # and a drink almost $20.

Guess no farm aid is getting to Canada. LOL

How do you think Canada pays for all that "free" stuff? Taxes that make a trip to Mickey-D's cost $20!!!
 
I always go for the number 3 🍔 with baked potato 🥔 instead of frys 🍟 . About 10$

They are being replaced with 'Go Fund Me' accounts...much easier to E-beg these days LOL!
