Wheat and Potato Harvest

A bit of video from the weekend starting out with damp wheat and moving on to potatoes. Had the camera clamped to a corn stalk for some action video of me digging out a few potatoes this morning. Called it a day after 16 pails but theres more to go.

Neat video. Thanks for posting. I hope the weather moderates so you can complete your harvest. I cant even dig my taters for a little while. New [10 day old] hip wont let me. Guess I will just watch you a little while longer.

(quoted from post at 06:07:42 10/01/18) We always used a fork with tines about 2 inches apart for tater digging.
Yes, I have a couple of old potato forks but have always found the hoe works better for me. The forks make a good potato stabber so I never use them. My grandfathers would be shocked.

I've got some potatos to dig, too, but it's raining, and looks like it's supposed to through Wednesday. That's good for the grass seed I put down over the spots that I dug up some stumps from. It sounds like my Troybilt 22 hp B & S Intek at around 1000 hours gave up the ghost. I went to start it Sat and it clunked and now the starter will not turn it over. Gotta check that out today. I've read that Intek motor is a 600 hour motor, so it doesen't owe me anything. I bought it new in 2001, but that is what I use to mount the 42" snowblower to, so I need to fix it. I have around 2- 2 1/2 months to "git-er-done"!
