Anybody grow Teff grass hay?

I need to tear up a thin alfalfa stand and am thinking about trying Teff next summer. My concern is whether it will sell in small squares. Do enough people know what it is to pay a decent price or will I have to give it away to get them to try it?
 
teffgrass.com is an informative website. I have a small alfalfa field that's getting thin too so I'm interested in what someone with experience has to say too. Reading the website I get the idea it's difficult to seed and establish because the seed is so miniscule but once it's up and going it's a good grass forage crop.
 
Per that web site it is an annual which means seeding it every year. Doing the tillage for seedbed prep every year I'd think would mitigate any advantage over reseeding to a good alfalfa only every 3-5 years.
 
We raise some. Cattle will leave grain to eat it. Dries down slow but works good to fill in a poor stand of alfalfa. Needs to be a very firm seedbed. Haven?t sold any to test the market yet but have ten acres to cut yet if it ever stops raining.
 
Central Kansas here. Probably not gonna buy yours, but I have a buddy up in Nebraska that raises a couple of pivots of Teff each year. He rents a good drill to seed it. He has all the Alfalfa he needs but needs grass hay for his cows so the Teff works great for him.
 
Horse people will buy it. Nice hay, critters love it. But it is an annual, so you have to deal with replanting every year.

I missed the part about it being an annual. Darn!
 
I thought I would try it as I liked it's attributes......till I went to the local feed/farm store and got sticker shock and being an annual. I passed.
