case 584 forklift trans in think

looked at a case 584 forklift today wanting a forklift long time now so ran it around the guys yard for about 1/2 hour no issues runs good drive in all gears so I go to load it on my trailer wont climb up the trailer even at full throttle in low gear wont climb up but runs on the flat ground great somethings wrong I need a forklift like this one but I am not a case expert thanks cdv

Is that a hydraulic transmission?

If so it may have an "inching valve" associated with the left brake that disengages the drive. It could be failing to fully return with the pedal up.

Other wise could be low on fluid, leaking pressure internally, burned clutches...

How is it in reverse? If it works normal in reverse, I would thing internal transmission problems.

Not familiar with that particular lift, just generalizing.

Is the power shuttle full of oil?

both oils and hdr filters have been changed along with new brakes ,brakes were leaking oil ,,,if it was low o on oil would it drive on flat road

yes it may until you tilt it when loading it will run away from the pump suction

Mine had a high low range.If it's in high it doesn't have much power because it's geared to high.

they have a 4 speed trans if it has a power shuttle. it should SPIN the tires in all gears but 4th if not you had problems, I sold them along with hundreds of backhoes every year I am not just speculating on whats wrong
