There were a couple versions of the pump used on the 4240 depending upon whether hydraulic front wheel assist, and probably serial number.

At least ONE version of the 4 cubic in pump appears to swap, others may with some fitting changes.

You can look for yourself, with your serial number and info at hand at the link below.

Mounting bolt pattern = yes, shaft spline count = yes, inlet and outlet fittings = maybe, destroke solenoid (destrokes pump during engine cranking) = maybe. Try calling Worthington Ag parts nearest yard, they have a good line of used, reman, and new after market pumps.

Ooh yes it will fit,,but you had better look into the size of the fittings...that is where the hang up will be..a pump off a 4010 will fit on an 8630..but the fittings won't work out...

Thanks for all the help guys, sorry it took so long for me to get online here. Couple more hours in a day and another day in the week would help me out ! Now I can make a plan any ways and get this tractor going again, Thanks again

There is a free parts book on the JD web site . It will also show what parts will cross reference across different models of equipment .
What are the symptoms ? Sometimes the pump is function but the problem is either upstream or downstream instead .

Good Morning buickanddeere. Ive had few problems with this tractors all from previous owner neglect. The powershift shredded shortly after i bought the tractor and left a lot of contamination in the hydraulic system, leading to steering metering pump, three point doesn't work, have to constantly clean the priority valve. When your going up and down the field you are constantly steering in one direction to keep straight. The tires move all the way right when idling and then it pukes oil from the hyd pump. I was going to rebuild the pump( if possible ) and put magnets in the large filter housing under the tractor then also install an extra hyd filter to change on a regular basis to clean up the system. Wanted the3 tractor to last the season but when my brother was filling bins the shaft sheered right off the pump ! Let me know if I could do any thing else to fix these problems
