An unfortunate truth about farmers........

I all of them, in one day, had a terrible accident and died.....well that would be about 1.5% of the total US population.......so no big loss....right?  :D

For a country to be successful it?s a nationwide team effort.
We may not all be appreciated by everyone but we all play an
important role in society. I feel the same way a lot of days but I
think (or at least hope and pray) that we are appreciated.

Ya,but you'd sure miss us when we're gone. LOL

I remember at a milk producers meeting several years ago somebody saying that all the dairy farmers in the US could be seated in one football stadium. Keep going and they could all get together in a phone booth.

Thing is the farmer can't do his job without the truck driver delivering goods, nor the tradesman who build the stuff her needs to be successful, or the engineers and scientist for that matter. No of them can do without the service members who keep the bad guys at bay. Ain't any of them better than any other productive members of society.

Lots of things folks wouldn't necessarily think about kill quite a few people every year, cows and horses, for example!

<img src = "http://oi67.tinypic.com/2572801.jpg">

Horses aren't listed separately, but various sources list between 5 and 20 people killed in the US every year by horse "accidents".

Thing is with the big ag outfits the 'farmer' is the pencil pusher and others do the actual work so things would go right on like normal, getting that way more all the time.

And the people you mention couldn?t do anything
without food . And the people you mention make
more than 2$ an hour for doing their jobs and when
they punch out at the end of the day they?re done

Do you grow all your own food and never buy any
food at that store ever ? Guess what genius that
makes you a farmer to and you ain?t gonna be
missed either

And guess what.......I do know how to live off the land.......so i really don't have to farm either there genius.........ever learned how early people survived BEFORE farming? They were called hunter gatherers..........

Its not important if one is appreciated getting paid is a lot more important.Basic economics says where there is a demand in a capitalist system it will be filled.Think that some farmers have
gotten the idea that they are the only important contributors to society which is not true. For me the suppliers of gasoline, diesel and electricity are the most important as I can produce and do produce plenty of food right on my own place.Try making it with no fuel for awhile.

Easy there superfarmer, oldtank was making a tongue-in-cheek observation about how few of us there are anymore. You know, kidding around. Chill out.

It's nothing new that almost any time a farmer passes away or retires there are a dozen or more knocking on the door to rent his land.
