Another trailer-tire question

Thanks to everyone who offered advice on my locking-ring trailer-tire question. Another question: My 8-bolt rim measures 6-1/2 inches across the bolt holes, which I've been told is pretty common. The pilot (center) hole measures 4-1/2 inches across. Can I use a rim with a larger hole, or must the hole fit snugly on the hub?

(As noted in my OP, the trailer is a small two-wheeler that will see mostly on-property use as a "stuff mover.")

As before, I appreciate your advice.

I would say as long as the lug holes are "coined" then the center hole only needs to clear any projections.
Most aftermarket rims are made with extra big center holes to clear all applications with same rim.

If the nuts are beveled on the bottom surface that contacts the wheel, and the bolt holes in the wheel are beveled then the wheel is stud piloted and not hub piloted A larger center hole won't hurt a thing.
