Wife and I were going through one of the outbuildings and had worked our way to a back wall that we apparently have not been at in many years. On that wall was this small aluminum plate, measuring about 4-5/8" x 5-3/4". Also found 3 old manuals; 2 about Minneapolis Moline, and another about McCormick Deering. They're in really bad condition though. The one I was able to open up a bit was for some MM attachment. Anyway, thought ya'll might like seeing the plate. First pic is no flash; 2nd pic is with flash.

It has been several decades since I saw the stuff but I think it resembled something like a white rag or sock like material that you stuffed in the filter housing.

Could it have been something like cheese cloth?

I tried contacting my local MM dealer, but couldn't find the number.

during ww2 they discovered a good product for oil filters was the sanitary napkin. An old timer at work carried them in his truck to keep hydraulic seeps from getting into fresh concrete on concrete paving equipment
