Orchard grass

I live in the South and want to lightly disc existings stand of Orchard Grass and drill/overseed-then cultipack. OPINIONS??

I would avoid the disc and just run the drill. My thinking is that since og is a clump grass it won't be super thick like Fescue. Interseeding works really well with clover around here.

I have not had much luck keeping orchard grass in pasture or hay field much over 2 years, unless you are willing to fertilize and lime according to soil tests EVERY year. I live in southside Virginia, very acidic, poor clay soil.

Not sure what your plan is for field or its condition, but if decent field without too many weeds and you want to keep OG but add more, you can drill in or disc and overseed. I've done it few times but always add red clover too. Done it after baling hay so ground is cleaner of debris. You can also easily improve your field in winter frost seeding OG and clover, just using a broadcaster can cover lots of ground.
