Tire size question

I am selling some 650-16 truck tires. What does that that convert to in modern size numbers?
Thanks, Richard

Modern tires will also have a much shorter sidewall than those old tires. If you need odd sizes try M.E. Miller Tire in Wauseon OH, I've also got a couple odd ones from Tyres International in Cleveland.

There really isn't a "modern" equivalent to the 6.50-16 size. If put into today's sizing nomenclature a 6.50-16 would be something like a 175/95-16 (based on the ~7" section width and ~30" diameter) but you'll never find such an odd-ball description in the tire books.

6.50-16 is closest to a 165/80R16 or 175/75R16 to keep a similar diameter which is 26.33 inches on the 175 but the width increases to 6.88 inches.

Check your dimensions - a 6.50-16 tire is quite a bit larger in diameter than you indicated.

A LT215/85X16 is 30.85"s tall. Very close to your 650X16. It will be a little wider in the bulge section.

6.50x16 was a very common size in the UK - all early short wheel base Landrovers had them as standard - made in their millions and exported world wide. Can't get 6.50x 16s any more - if you were in the UK someone would immediately bite your hand off for them!
Anyway, the consensus here seems to be that the modern equivalent is something like 205/80/R16 - though these are a little fatter than the originals. Jim
