Antique Tractor shows/Salvage yards

We are doing our annual Canada/USA road trip and plan to head down from Toronto Airport into the US via Port Huron then head for Nashville to take in some music and a few shows. We will be there in about two weeks time. Are there any tractor, custom car or motorcycle events on then that you can suggest. I'm also interested in visiting any tractor or motorcycle salvage yards. If you can think of any other interesting places we should visit while on the east coast that would be great.
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.
Bill

For tractor shows. There is the Mackinaw bridge crossing on the 7th of September. Jeremy said they already have over 1400 signed up for it. Would be about 200-250 miles north to the bridge from Port Huron. For junkyards not much that has anything unique around along the route in MI there is a guy south of Kalamazoo that has a parts yard at his house some of everything there last time I was there a few years ago.
I only live about 8-10 miles north of I-69 if your going that direction from Port Huron. 989 413 5684 if you want to call. Could meet at the truck stop or some place else at Perry.

Days drive east of Nashville is a great collection of restored tractors, trucks and etc. Keystone Truck and Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Just off of I-95. Really worth a half day visit! 1/2 day drive west of Nashville are the Sikeston, Missouri tractor and equipment salvage yards. Hope you can catch both, but Keystone is a MUST! Regards. Don

If you can, try the Gilmore Museum, between Kalamazoo and Hastings. Not much tractor stuff, but automobiles from Benz first car to a Chrysler Turbine car and more. To keep it farm related some of the coolest ones are in converted barns. If you take back roads instead of the 402 there is some really nice farm ground between London and Sarnia/Point Edward, used to drool some as I went through there on my way to my Grandparents in London.

Bill there is a private museum collection about 40 minutes north of Nashville that one can spend half a day or more in. I will get you more information. I am about an hour west of Nashville so maybe I can hook up with you some time.

I'm about 75 miles from the Keystone Museum I have a lot of old tractors nothing really outstanding some, some parts tractors some salvage.Near me a good friend has a huge John Deere and Brinly garden tractor
collection some really rare stuff, also a MM collector has a group of the big MM tractors.Up in Newville PA Harry Barrick has a very big Oliver tractor collection and a big
toy tractor collection.Yinglings salvage in Gettysburg PA always has some interesting stuff.

They are getting rid of anything older than 1960. Just talked to my friend and he had just bought all of the Deere 2 cylinder parts they had. He is in the tractor restoration business and had things at the Portland, Indiana show this past week end. That would have been a good place for Bill to stop at but it is just passed.

This is near Nashville. Also a good Salvage yard in Decatur AL. Mid South Salvage. Google knows them. Lol. Link to auction in KY. I live several hours south of Nashville,in Central AL.

Oh my, if you can make it on Aug 30 to Sept 1, one of the biggest motorcycle swap meets in the US, is at Davenport Iowa at the fairgrounds. Google ChiefBlackhawk.org. This is the 47th year and it will blow you away if you like old motorcycles!!! You'll have your luggage full of motorcycle parts when you leave!
As was mentioned, the Old Threshers Reunion is just down the road at Mount Pleasant at the same time. Come on down, what's not to like.

A good tractor salvage yard in the area is Mid South Tractor Parts in Decatur, Alabama. Wander around, if you find something you want they will loan you tools to remove it.

Hello Bill, I just had a call from a long time collector friend of mine here in Ontario. He collects John Deere and is not far off the 402 highway when you are nearing Sarnia/Port Huron. He would like to have you visit. I do not see an e-mail option here, can you post back? Thanks

There is no such thing as a motorcycle junk yard. There are places that break down jap bikes but they are not junk yard prices.
