missing gear box ,what do most people do about replacing gear box...looked on their web site says no longer available..it sets off the
deck 9 inches......any info helps thanks.....dewy

Look for a tag on the gearbox. Will tell the maker of the gearbox and the gear ratio. Could be an Omni gearbox.

The gearbox on the older Bush Hog machines were built by Bush Hog. If the complete gearbox is obsolete, you may be able to get the individual components, and build your own. I know for sure that all internal components are available.

The newer Bush Hog ones are made in china, there are lots of aftermarket replacements available. If you have the blade mount and driveshaft you will want to find something compatible with them.

I have a gearbox on a 5' brush hog with a rusted out deck that sounds like what you are describing. Where are you located? I am about 45 minutes SE of Columbus Oh.

Thanks,
Brian
