Air cleaner repair ideas needed

I have the bottom off a dry air cleaner from a Deere 2510 that sat with water in it. The inside is very rusty and thin. I tried a couple of salvage yards with little luck. Any one ever try coating the inside with something to make a liner? What about the stuff you line gas tanks with? What about the spray on bedliner stuff that comes in spray cans? I have seen several others rusted like this so I am more interested in finding a way to redo this one than to buy another one. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Tom

I would try fiberglass and resin.

Scrape off the loose rust, build it up a couple layers, trim and grind the edges.

I bought a couple of used Ferguson head light cans, one was rusted through in a few places, looked like it had laid outside for a while. I glassed it up on the inside and the damaged area outside, sanded it down and painted it. Can't even tell.

Anything should work if you can get it clean enough to stick good. I'd likely sandblast it and then deal with the holes like I do gas tanks. Use acid core solder and solder them up. It can be sanded smooth on the outside and painted. This would be a permanent type repair.

First it needs to be clean. Some some else suggested sand blasting. If it surives this without opening up holes, a good coat of paint should be good. If the sand blasting opens up small holes use JB weld to seal the holes, then paint. Stan
