I grew up in the late '40's and '50's. Flat wheel rollers were called steam rollers long after they were powered by diesel engines.
Same for steam shovels.

Can you imagine how hot it would be sitting under the roof
with a roaring fire going powering it? All the AC cabs with
Bluetooth we dont know how good we have it today. Nice
looking machine.

I was thinking the same thing. Even today I hear people refer a pavement roller as a "steam roller."

Where do you see roller with AC cab? We have a lot of major road repaving going on in this area being done by two major paving companies and they don't have any rollers with cab. They may have several with roof but none with cabs.

Looks too nice to scrap, but I guess you can't save 'em all. Local group restores steam locomotives- the certification is a real big deal, and they test the boiler parts pretty thoroughly before starting on a restoration. Bad boiler tubes can be a deal-breaker, cost-wise. You have to have some pretty serious welding certifications in order to weld in boiler tubes, which usually means hiring a pro for big bucks.
