Had a neighbor that owned a W-9 McCormick Deering. That thing was a brute. It must have held nearly fifty gallons of gas in its massive fuel tank. He use to use it on the silo blower, and it would nearly suck the sides of the gad tank in while it was running the blower. He switched to using a Case 930 for that job and it used half the fuel the W-9 did doing the same work.

I don't think there is such a thing as "a narrow front" standard tractor. Weren't All STANDARDS wide front?

That would be 1946 or earlier as IHC changed the decals from McCormick-Deering to just McCormick in 1947.

My WR9 is serial number 29152 so is a 1947 and it has McCormick Deering decals and has had since dad bought it new.
Gas tank is 36 gallons.

I wonder just how much that W4 cost new ? The old man bought a new JD A in 1949 it cost 2000 dollars. and it came on 11x38's.The neighbors came on 12x 38's. A farmer in Leola Pa. has a WD9 McCormick that he bought new and it came on factory steel wheels. His son still has it. It pulled a lot of belt but never a plow. He is Amish.

I think that is a very early W-4, it appears to have the 24 inch detachable rims on the back wheels, the drop-centre 26 inch wheels did not appear until much later, possibly 1943.
