tractor values

I'm asking for a neighbor whose husband passed about 5 years ago. I'm asking for a neighbor whose husband passed 5 5-6 years ago. He had a 1953 Farmall Super MD. No Torque amplifier, appears to be factory that way. It has decent sheet metal, just some minor bent bars in the grille. Rubber is worn, but not checked and seems to be holding air. Has fenders and power steering, and appears to be in good general condition. The other tractor is an Oliver Super 55 gas. It has decent paint and good rubber. The rear rims have been widened and the tires are oversize, but appear to be pretty new. Both tractors were used regularly before my neighbor passed and have been stored inside ever since. Neither has been started in several years but probably would run fine with a little battery charging etc. My advice was to get them running before trying to sell, so I'm just looking for a general price range.

SMD with usable tires running, about 2000 to 2500. Not running about 1/2 of that. The gas start diesel is subject to sticking Pump rack when not used, and can take sorting time to get them to be a user tractor. it might (or might not have live Hydraulics, and does not have live PTO. I give the Oliver about a grand more than the M if running. About 2500 if it the engine is free, but not running, and 1500 if stuck. Jim

they did not have a T.A. until 1954. basically what jim says, but to find a buyer is the thing in advertizing. on auction a person may only get 500.00 for a non runner.

Takes a good running Oliver S55 to break 2K$ in my area and have seen them sell last couple years at auction for as low as $1500 running.People will be wary of the SMD not running because they had a reputation for cracked heads.Get it running and if it runs good it'll sell pretty well most times

There's a lot of variables on that 55 Paul. There was an early version and then what's referred to as the "Improved Super". The improved had the gas cap on the middle of the hood instead of under the radiator cap door. I'd give one of those a little more value over the early ones. Does it have the auxiliary remote hydraulic valve? Swinging drawbar? Those wide rims would take away some value for me. I'd hate to give you a value without knowing those things and without seeing it,but I'd say the range could be from $1500 to 2500.

See if they might be interested in consigning it to Albrechts auction out of Vassar. You don't have to take it to them, the winning bidder comes to your place to pick it up after sold. The stuff on there seems to bring good money, and they do a good job advertising.
