this is my tractor

Just for no reason, I'm sharing a pic of my tractor. Just because I think it is the best looking tractor ever. I think I'm addicted to driving it. First tractor for me. Spending more time on it than my horses, which says A LOT!

That series has a classic look to it, the Red guys always seem to gravitate to those x66 models. Has enough modern features to be useful,
enough power to be useful, and still older and simpler.

Was always surprised thry did use that exact model number, with the religious connotation.

Post a picture of your horse and we can agree with time spent on the tractor or not. You sound pretty excited, hopefully your
horse isn't an old "plug" ..... is that the correct horse terminology to use?

Paul, I know! Well, if it kills me, we all know it's not because operator error, but because of the evil number on it! Haha!

CrazyHorse, okay, let me find a picture I can grab already on the computer. Have a Friesian Sporthorse, a Spanish Mustang, and a BLM burro. Don't have many pics on this new computer, but here's one I don't know how to rotate. Plug is a term used! My horses are too young to be plugs, way too much energy, more like monkeys. Will put this one to work soon with an old plow or pulling logs or whatever.

Great-looking animal, very well-groomed and cared for. Never seen that getup for the head/ears. Keeps flies and stinging bugs off?

IH is nice-looking machine, too. Would post pic of my Massey but it looks to be a broken-down old heap even though it's in excellent running condition. Went through some changes before my watch.

My bachelor neighbor bought a 666 brand new, and his mother was horrified when they delivered it and she saw the number on the hood. It was a really nice tractor and served him well for many years. He and his mother are both dead now, and the farm has passed to a niece, but the 666 is still in use over there. I always liked the looks and sound of it.

Red MF40, thank you. The thing is a fly bonnet, yes, to keep flies and gnats out of ears. It is held in place by a halter or bridle, vs. a fly MASK which is held on by itself with velcro and covers the whole face. You should put on a pic of your Massey.

PJH, I was the same... I saw this tractor for sale last year and when I saw the number on it I said WHAT?, No thanks. and kept looking for another one to buy. But the darn thing is so good looking, I gave it another chance and tried to disregard the number. went to try it out and HAD TO buy it. Absolutely love the sound of it.

Nice looking tractor for sure and that was the feeling I had with my first Oliver 1850. I loved the sound and the ease of driving it in the field. I will never get over the fondness of my Oliver 77's though.

Found this on Wikipedia:
It is common to see the symbolic role of
the integer 666 transferred to the digit
sequence 6-6-6. Some people take the
Satanic associations of 666 so seriously
that they actively avoid things related to
666 or the digits 6-6-6. This is known as
hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia.

Your subject reminds me of Full Metal Jacket (paraphrasing the Rifleman's Creed)

"This is my tractor. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My tractor is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my tractor is useless. Without my tractor, I am useless......"

Ok, thanks for the explanation. Horses could use those here in Maryland. Very buggy. You twisted my arm, here's a pic of my tractor. Nice evening light and its best angle make it look a bit better. Loader is a Ford 770 that does a good job. Installed before my time with the tractor.

good afternoon gotmyfarm, what year is your 666? I got 2 mm m5's last summer and love driving the one I have up and running. (the other is on the to do list!) both mine are 1961 models and all kinds of torque and smooth to run. here's a pic of "miss minne" mowing hay

gotmyfarm, My 2 hay burners. Both are Quarter horses and the mare is over 30 years old. Good looking IH tractor.

carvelminniefarmer, mine is 1975, I believe. I researched the serial number when I got it a year ago, I could be a year off if I'm not remembering right. I've never seen a tractor like yours, in that nice of shape for its kind. Looks good and if it has torque and smoothness then for sure its good!

gotmyfarm! You could make a pretty decent puller out of that 666 too. Just drop a DT 466 into it with an oversized turbo, and P-pump, and away you go. You would probably want some bigger tires too. A friend from CT had one 10-15 years ago that was pretty hot.

Very nice tractor. I'm 67 yrs old and I've never heard of all this "666" number craziness. If it's any consolation, the actual meaning of the numbers is what counts...66 hp and 6 cylinders. So with this in mind..the number is actually 66>6. Hows that ? LOL

RandyB(MI), Yes, that may be a little better. Or, I've always thought maybe I should just do something like this. Especially when I drive it to the gas station to get diesel... I get a lot of looks. Don't know if they are horrified by the number or maybe I'm just too cute. A model 123 would then mean, 12HP and 3cylinder? haha!

(quoted from post at 14:49:34 08/20/18) redmf40, that looks like a nice set up! I like it and think it looks great!

Thanks, with good lighting everything looks better. Maybe one day I'll even post with the FEL doing some work ;-)

i thought I might see a Massey Feguson 1100! LOL , You Go man , Whatever rocks
for Ya! ,I appreciate them All but I mostly like the guy who LOVES his Iron for
whatever reasons he has ,There are worse thing You could be doing .It is
wonderful You have a passion for something. i recall a old IHC guy that good
naturally prodded and poked at a young guy who loved his 2 cylinder Deeres .
The Ol fella told him they put Anthrax in the air everytime they run.The kid
just shook His head and grinned when he got tired of arguing. They would swap
buying one another lunch .

The old Timers Loved Their tools too , steamers of all sorts ,Horses ,
mules , dogs and Animals of all sorts ,the Land ,and Family , these are the
style of values that made this country great. I know These statements i make
might not Really Go with Your declaration of LOVE for Iron, But it REALLY
DOES . It seems Today we are losing our very Soul.

Today I was part of a Road Construction mtg for a road in our county. we
had team members from 4 different states that were part of the heave ho to get
things done and to make sure we fit thru all the BIG government agencies hoops
hurdles RESPONSIBLY .I was Pleased with their efforts and performance. One
common denomonator was that we were all products of big farm families with a
rural lifestyle . Some will not get back home to their spouses and children
until Friday.and I could feel the anguish in the room ,Especially ,when they
were dealing with BIG government. I would bet all them would trade places with
you on that 666 , Even if they liked a orange or green tractor. Keep on loving
,Man
