Cleaning dash on tractor

One of my tractors (CaseIH 5240) has a fancy digital dash, anyway, screen works fine but over the years the screen has become scratched and dull and is now hard the read. Anyone know of anyway to remove the scratches and clean it up so it's readable again. When I wash it down with a little water the screen looks great until the water dries.

CDs get scratches and there is a spray that cleans them up. I would use a windex like product first to remove all residue, then apply the product. Headlight lense polish might also work. Jim

I'll second the headlight restorer.

Years ago, before cars had plastic headlights, I saw an old sun yellowed speedometer lens on a motorcycle shined up to almost perfect using toothpaste for rubbing compound.

I would use Dupont white polishing compound. Same as I use for lots of things including headlight covers on a car my son had.

Try using clear see through tape. If the glue on the tape fills in the scratches, the light won't get scattered by the scratches. Leave the tape on screen.

Let me know if it works for you. Try different types of clear tape.

The cluster on my 2810 Ford was so bad you could barely see the tach. Used a headlight restoration kit and it is good as new.

Headlight restore would be the best way to polish off the yellow and polish out most of the scratches.

Rain-X will temporarily fill in some of the pits and scratches on older pickup windshields. I apply it before winter driving season. The carrier is rubbing alcohol. It may be worth a short term trial on scratched gauges.

Chrome/aluminum polish will do it. I polished the plastic headlights on an old Pete I still have with it. Just by hand some, helped.
