Heading back to MN for work

I spent 4 months at Farmington last summer on a fuel injection conversion for a natural gas compressor. The vendor was never able to get the lean burn to work right, so the customer is scrapping the conversion, so I will be back up there this month to roll back the changes and make it like before the conversion. I worked for the customer and interfaced the fuel injection system to the customer system.

Ron, will have to get breakfast if you are up for it.

Who got the pleasure of eating all the cost of the failed effort???? What were they trying to gain?? Fuel efficiency???

I do not "want" to know, but assume the vendors bond got pulled, I got paid to put it in, gonna get paid to take it out.

The premise of the project was NOx reduction, but a side benefit is about 10% reduction in fuel usage. There were specific NOx levels in the proposal that the vendor agreed to. There was another bid received on the project, but was about a million higher. The other vendor was going to change out the heads to a newer style, this one did not. I am assuming that the other vendor will get the bid now, as the MN DNR was promised these emission levels by the customer after the vendors agreed to it.

Why is the DNR the watchdog for emissions? Seems that should be under the EPA.

I'm another Ron and live about 60 miles away from the Ron you are probably referring to. (greenmech?)

Not if the engine belongs to DNR. DNR will have received standards from the MN EPA but I'm betting it's a DNR contract because the engine belongs to DNR. For what it's worth over here on the good side of the state folks claim DNR stand for "Do Nothing Right" and refer to DNR officers as "carp cops".
