Truck discussion forums

I use mostly old GM straight trucks around the farm and belong to ?stovebolt? forums. Having just gotten a 64 Ford straight truck (technically
fire truck), are there forums for old big Fords? I did a google search but came up with nothing of consequence.

I posted a week or so ago that my plan is to remove the pumper body and make a nice bale bed for it. With 2200 original miles (and seeing it
for myself) I?m having second thoughts, especially since everything works. I do haul water to cattle every day during grazing season. Maybe I
need to use a fire truck instead of the 54 Chevy grain truck? Here?s a pic in the shed. Sorry about the digit in the photo!

Can not help concerning ford discussion forums, however outdated fire trucks seem to be sitting in every town. They appear to have no/limited use, very little value and difficult to resale. They are expensive to drive, difficult to garage and parts availability for the pumper are scarce. How many parades can you put it in? Strip it and build it to your use.

Here is one that tends to get decent traffic.

It is dedicated to 2ton and bigger fords.

That was exactly my thoughts. My folks are in their upper 70?s. My mom just about had a seizure when she found out I was planning on taking the pumper body off. ?You can?t do that that! It doesn?t even look like anyone ever sat on the seat!?

Exactly. It?s in good condition and will last me until they come to haul me off in a box and auction off the farm. I?ll keep it nice - all of my stuff (except for a few tillage things) is shedded every night. It?s going to get used, though. If I drive a 35 Chevy to chore everyday I?m sure not letting something 30 years newer sit around!

There's a subsection there for large trucks like yours.

I purchased a 68 C800 fire truck some years ago, it was neat to have a old fire truck setting around but I had more need for a truck with a dump bed, unfortunately that big 534 gas engine broke a valve destroying the engine some time later and I just couldn't see putting more money into it than I could replace it for.
