Oldest son got the head back on the old 88. It isn't quite right, but he couldn't find another head so he told the machinist to plane the head and do the valves anyway. It ran before he took the head off, so it has to be better. Starts easier, runs better, has more power. Good enough to make it worth the time and effort to fix some other things on the tractor. Won't put many hours on it anyway, but it's another tractor to use in a pinch.

Hey Don, one of your neighbors stopped by here Friday. Jim from Boonville. We had a nice chat.
Also I posted about our display at our local tractor show just below this post, and some one asked if the show in Constableville is still an on going event . Perhaps you could answer his question, since I did not know.

I just seriously confused myself and then after about ten rereads of your post I figured it out.

I read ...got the head back on the Olds 88... but it's another tractor... What are we talking about? A Buick or a tractor!! I got it now. No need to help this time!!

Comprehension and reading problem!! Jokes on me

Believe I saw them pull-starting it around the yard when I went by the other day. Just got a quick glimpse, but it looked like she was puffing smoke and trying to start, but I'm glad they got it back up and running!

Hey Tim, For some reason none of the timing marks are correct, soooooooooooooo you just keep changing the pump timing until it fires and runs. Took a few trips around the drive way to get it sorted out.

Yeah, I could have worded that different, couldn't I? I was thinking in the context of the "old" 88 as compared to the "new" Super 88. (chuckle)

Your not alone Switchflicker

Being that I own several Oldsmobile 88's I thought the exact same thing when I read the post preview.

Here is one of mine sitting at a local car show last summer.
