Round up sprayed over round bales

In early june roundup was oversprayed on some round bales .the bales were there
lined up and you can clearly see where the spray killed hay in the areas
between the bales . the planter ran rightalong side the round bales . neighbor
is now concerned after the fact , His Hay , His soybean crop ,but His son did
the spraying , and now he is afraid of upsetting his son for something else
again . I told him not to worry and feed 2 bales at a time .one unsprayed and
one sprayed .. besides we have had over 18 inches of rainfall since june that
shoulda
washed off any thing to worry about .

Roundup has been used for decades, with no ill effects generally noted, despite what some slick-talking plaintiff's attorney was able to convince a bunch of wacko California jurors (the same state that brought you the OJ Simpson jury, and laws that fine you for clearing brush to make a defensible space around your house so it doesn't burn down).

I've often thought that it was strange that you put people on a jury in a technical trial who have no training in science, and probably don't understand what is even being talked about. They go in the jury room in a fog, and all they can see is a poor minority landscaper who is sick, and award millions because he seems like a nice guy. They could have done him a bigger favor by awarding $5 million or so- enough to make the family happy, and perhaps they would actually get some money. With a $247 million verdict, Monsanto can't afford to let that go unchallenged, so will have it on appeal until everyone involved has long since passed away.

Legally and ethically he is good after 8 weeks waiting.

In some crops or conditions it could be much shorter time, I didn't look of any of those fit this situation.

No need to speculate, check the link. He is looking for glyphosate in the chart, it's written down good to go.

Wait times on herbicides

Read the label. At one time the label said you could spray alfalfa and wait 24 hours then cut it for either hay or silage with no problems and the plant would not grow back. You should have no worries at all about feeding that hay. Tom

Thought you might be interested in how a survey of Major corporation (sales of over $100 million) attorneys ranked and rated the "Worst" states for lawsuits based on the Damages awarded, admissibility of evidence, and impartiality of judges:

#1...Worst ... West Virginia....Finally a number 1 ranking for WVA....
2nd worst Louisiana
3rd Mississippi
4th California
5th Illinois
6th Montana
7th New Mexico
8th Alabama
9th Oklahoma
10th Florida

Apparently you "wacho's" are widespread.

In crop meetings around here years ago the guy used to drink a glass with roundup water in it. He died as old and bitter as if he never had consumed it. Of course, that was back when guys used diesel in their sprayer as a crop oil.

There won?t be any issues with feeding it. 24D is nasty, Roundup I wouldn?t worry about. I haven?t done it, but I know of several guys that have sprayed roundup on wheat ready to cut to have less trouble cutting and then baling straw as well.

I have RR alfalfa but I can?t recall what the recommendation is for holdout. Sure it killed the weeds between the bales - it is a contact herbicide. There was nothing growing in those bales so it was wasted. Now, something to consider is his crop oil or if he heated it up with anything. Some of those things I wouldn?t want to ingest. And some leave a very bad taste in your mouth. Don?t ask me how I know.

Well, we spray it directly on thousands of acres of headed out wheat every year and then harvest the grain and makes all our bread products etc. Won't go into my opinions on this practice but just comparing this to your hay bales and cattle eating them.

The ones you referred to as "wacho's" .

Indiana...midwest, god-fearing, churchgoing, gun toting, red voting, nnalert home;
a jury awarded $157 million to the widow of a man killed when his deer hunting tree stand collapsed and $48 million to an electicrian that fell off a ladder in a factory.

And a Texas jury awarded $3 million to a woman that spilled coffee on herself.

Wacho-ism is apparently nationwide.
