95 chev 3/4 with coolant leak at radiator

The leak is from the plastic side tank, where the upper transmission cooler line is connected, just under the upper radiator outlet. It leaks after the thermostat opens and stops when the pressure is released from the radiator. If I drain the radiator and disassemble the fitting is there an O ring, or a gasket that may need to be replaced? Could I clean it up and add a sealant to it? My brother wants to use it and my trailer tomorrow and so I need to fix it quickly. I really would rather not take it apart and then find out that it will require buying a radiator and have it not available for him.

Every one of those I have found you have to replace the radiator no way to fix with out doing so. Ya you might get by for a while with some stop leak as a stop gap measure but that is all it will be
 
i think that seal/gsk is on the inside. have you checked that large tinnerman nut for tightness>? i suppose one could remove that nut & try o-ring/washer. one of those things that might be made worse by messing with it, sealer additive might be best approach.
 
If that's the original radiator, you've more than got your money's worth!

You will probably find the tank cracked if you go in to fix it.

How well do you trust your brother? I would be real hesitant to loan a truck out with a leak!
 
My '99 Sub. has same "tin nut" that leaked under pressure. I just made a "wrench" to tighten it and never leaked since.
 
I did not attempt to tighten the nut, for fear that I might end up with a bigger problem. I will try that correction first. Then if that does not work, I will dis assemble it and see if I can seal it.
My brother is going to have the rock delivered because he would rather not tempt fate. So he will not need my truck and trailer. I will probably tear into it later, due to other projects. Thank you for your advice.
