8N abandoned

Surveying one of our big natural gas transmission mains cross country today and took pics of an 8N that?s been abandoned on our right of way, (actually it?s been here couple of years now) looks like it?s been left for dead, I come through area annually and no houses within 20 miles of location, may try to get up with timber company and see who holds the hunting lease in the area, we don?t like stuff left on our right of ways

Looks to be in great shape, but their anti-weather system is falling apart. What's that bolted to front--brush guard?

Someone must hold title to the land. Try and find out who does. Might be a free tractor. Around here the power company sells right of ways under power lines. No buildings can be put on the land. Don't know why people would want to own land, just to pay taxes on, and can't build on, but they do. Some make nice parks. Stan

It's a late model and doesn't look too bad.

It's gotta be worth a second look.

Can?t mention company name on here, I?m at work getting paid, location about 1/2 mile from AL-FL state line in Escambia County AL if you want to research pipeline data

It?s an old food plot tractor as hunting clubs hold all of these
timber company leases through out the area. Evidently the old
N had some mechanical issues and was just vacated, I know
it?s been unmoved sitting in same spot at least two years now.
My face and company truck has probably had many pics
taken today of me on a stretch of about 20 miles by game
cameras , lots of good looking pea and corn plots I?ve driven
through, especially the pea plots, their supposed to leave us
driving access down right of ways and not plant the entire
width, they never learn, get confronted from time to time about
it and have to explain why I have to have a path down the
right of way. I?m a fellow hunter myself with power company
transmission lines through my lease and I have to let them
have a path down one side of their right of way

(quoted from post at 18:30:02 08/09/18) Pick it up and take it home, the sheriff in that county will probably be by to tell you who owns it.That could turn into a $2500 tractor real quick(LOL)
hat thought crossed my mind too.

Our right of way crew keeps the right of way cut once a year and contract crew also cuts right of way once per year, so two cuttings are done and company fixing to contract another crew this Fall to spray vegetation

explains it. I know a little about row maintenance. big job, big expense and it is year round. we started a spray program called "bermuda grass release". took a few years but started working as it killed the tall fast growing weeds, bushes and saplings and allowed the friendly grasses to grow.

Gas Co goal is to have bahia grass only on pipeline right of way, going to cost big bucks to kill all the different weedy grasses and persimmon trees that constantly sprout up, we have over 800+ miles of cross country high pressure transmission pipeline right ways to maintain, persimmon trees can grow 10? high during the summer after their cut in early spring and Johnson grass gets about 7-8? tall

considerably more miles than my responsibility, superintendent for a fair sized city north of b'ham. mowing grasses sure is easier than briars and stubble.

Not to hijack this or anything, but did they just change the engine in this junker, or did they graft a car manifold onto it?
