Take a ride on the combine with me

Always wondered why you need a windshield wiper on a combine ? I guess If you are moving the machine and get caught in a storm it would be nice . Morning glory is tough stuff even with chemical it?s tough to control and with tillage as your only weapon you can see what it does
 
Comment for Chief & SV about wiper, if you are in corn country you would know many bushels have been picked when it is foggy/drizzling, or snowing as only the ear is picked which stays dry in the husk. Also if you are having problems with ear drop when the snout of head hits stalk moisture toughens up ear shank and stalk. Wiper is also used to remove frost when defroster thaws it in the morning. My opinion of my obversations.
 
thanks for the ride along sv., great video, a question how will he be cleaning all the weeds out of the wheat? looks like the landowner needs to run a cultivator over that field and get those weeds up top to dry and die :lol:
 
just the mention of morning glory's gets my attention. I have some here at the house that I've been trying to kill for 5 yrs now, I've sprayed it, mowed it, stomped it and cussed it and it still gains ground.
 
Is this in the Rexburg area? Always fun to watch the machines. I had a brother who went south several years to work on a custom combining crew working from Kansas north to North Dakota. He made some videos of the combine he drove and gave me a copy of some of the work.

Give the herbicide Milestone a try on the morning glory. You will be impressed with the results! Fall application is best.
 
I figure If you can?t drive a combine without gps you should not be operating one. I hate gps If I wanted to play video games I?d sit at home and I hate video games to . The only good use for gps I can see is spraying with no foam markers or the big 90 foot booms running 15 mph
 
I?ve always wanted to work a harvest crew but I have to many other things going on here to leave so I guess this is about as close as I?ll get and this has been pretty fun . This place is quite a bit south of Rexburg but kinda in the lower corner of Idaho
 
I actually had my head set in so it would pickup my voice and not the machine but it?s still pretty quiet to run
 
I?ve got to have something with no residual we are planting alfalfa not on this field this is just a guy we are cutting for he?s organic and can?t use herbicides
 
The combine does an exceptional job of cleaning
the wheat . You can?t cultivate morning glory it just
drags it all over the field and it spreads everywhere
a piece of a plant drops it grows a new one . A disk
and moldboard are the only thing that will think of
slowing it down he moldboards in the fall and disks
before he drills grain . The problem is the weeds
grow and you can?t control them in grain without
herbicide I?ve got some grain to cut today with my
machine that?s greener with weeds now than it was
2 weeks ago and they won?t quit growing until it
freezes
