I had a chance to buy one in similar condition years ago but passed as I had no place to keep it.

My trailer is also 102". It's legal in Nebraska, but several surrounding states are limited to 96". But, I've hauled through all of them and no one ever said anything, even when an officer at a port of entry in Kansas checked my load.

Grandpa sold his similar loader in 55. Pretty complete, but needed 20% wood. The IHC binder went at the same time. very nice find. Innovation is our forte. Jim

Really??

What happens if someone from a state where 102" is OK wishes to travel through a state where 102" [i:30690c157f]isn't[/i:30690c157f] allowed (except for semi's)??

I think you're OK anywhere if the trailer is legal in the state of your residence. Same as your driver's license is OK anywhere in the country.

102" is good on any interstate in any state.
It is the local rules that can get you, but usually only if your caught doing something stupid.

Or you are driving thru some Barney Fife's kingdom.

I wonder where the discussion about the legality of the trailer came in?? I re-read the entire thread, and see no place where that question was asked.
BUT, just for information, federal law states that no state may have a blanket prohibition on 102" trailers. Also, every state must allow 102" trailers on highways approved for STAA dimensions. That includes most (if not all) interstate highways.
Restrictions do sometimes exist on state highways and secondary roads.

There are a lot of county roads in MO that are only a few inches wider than my trailer, a challenge, but it does fit.

Please tell your friend to keep it under cover and take good care of a vanishing piece of equipment. What a beauty! I can still remember in the 60s the neighbor farm had a team and I watched him doing hay several times. Wish I had watched more. I can remember the mechanical noises of that machine and the sounds of the teams harness.

(quoted from post at 14:09:30 08/06/18) thats in really good shape!

I've not seen one in that good shape since I was a kid in the 50s.

Most have been left out in the field to rot and rust away.

Probably should be in a museum.

Jim ...... nor any questions about specific federal regulations. Meanwhile, if you ever come across any post here on YT that is of any length at all where every reply stays 100% on track, make sure you let me know. I've seldom seen such an animal.

he's a JD man, and has a big old freestall that has room for it. I'm sure it will be under cover, at least after the tractor club meeting that is at his place next week.

Hey Bill, "Tractor club meeting at his house"? Maybe you will post some pictures? I've seen pictures of the meeting at your house. I've been to tractor shows with fewer tractors!!

hi kevin, no pictures of the meeting this year (and his meeting is a steak roast!). my friend that has the Farmall A #501 said if I show up at the Walton fair that same night, I can drive the A in the fair parade. sounded like a deal to me!!

Nice shape. We had one for a few years when I was just a little guy. There is one advertised locally for $1600.00. Coop E-3. Little overpriced I think.

That is a fairly late model, possibly built at the old Dain (JD bought Dain) facility here in Iowa.
