Keyboarding for bold, italics, etc ?????

I notice that occasionally some YT'ers who post here can type in say "bold" type or "italics" into their posts. How do they do that? I have those functions on my word document program screen and also on email screens, but nothing on my keyboard when I type into regular posts or replies here on the YT site. How do these people do that?

We [i:654c4848f0]do[/i:654c4848f0] [b:654c4848f0]it[/b:654c4848f0] by [i:654c4848f0]writing[/i:654c4848f0] [b:654c4848f0]HTML[/b:654c4848f0]

i is for italics and b is for bold

Use the code.....

< b > put your words here < / b >
Change the b to i for italics.
Take out all the spaces.
I had to use spaces so you could see what I typed.

RRL ...... Before you replied, I tried this system immediately below here for bold and italics (from a Google search). In short, it doesn't work, at least on my laptop.

"To make text bold, select and highlight the text first. Then hold down Ctrl (the control key) on the keyboard and press B on the keyboard. To make text italic, select and highlight the text first. Then hold down Ctrl (the control key) on the keyboard and then press the I on the keyboard".

So I then tried your system for symbols ..... and it seems to work for symbols like ? ? ? or ? etc. Some of those might come in handy. But I can't find anything in your link about being able to keyboard in bold or italic fonts for normal words.

Maybe it's not there,I don't know for sure. I never dug that deep in to it. I've just used it for symbols and foreign letters.

Ultradog and John ....... I'm going to try this here, let's see what happens for bold .... [b:654c4848f0]Yesterday's Tractors[/b:654c4848f0] ..... Hooray, it shows up when I make the final post.

How about [i:654c4848f0]Yesterday's Tractors[/i:654c4848f0] ..... hooray again.

Now for both ...... [b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]Yesterday's Tractors[/b:654c4848f0][/i:654c4848f0] ..... yippee !!!!

Not sure what HTML is all about but it seems to work, some Russian code maybe that Putin uses?

Thanks for the help boys !!!</>

I fiddled with the HTML system that others suggested, it seems to work after trying different ways of doing it. But I can use your system for putting in my two cents (or my 2?) ..... Thanks for the help !!

You can change the <font size="4" color="red">color</font> just about as easily too.
And the <font size="8" color="black">font size</font> too.

I take it you're using Classic View? I use Modern View, and the different choices are right there in the text box.

Yes, I do use Classic View. If I could remember my password, I could post using Modern View, I'll check that out. Hard to
change old habits. I wonder what % use Classic vs Modern here on YT ???

OH great now you guys have unleashed a beast we will seeing every font and color known to man &#128557; LOL

"[b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]<font color="#6699ff">I've seen james Howell do it before[/i:654c4848f0][/b:654c4848f0]</font>"

The HTML code for bold, italic, and blue font are used to identify the part of a message which I am replying.

Helps me focus on answering the question or replying to a statement of the poster.

HTML is also very useful to display images, videos, and web links within the text of a message.

Sorry Grizz ...... I shoulda known better, I really don't need [b:654c4848f0]bold[/b:654c4848f0] or [i:654c4848f0]italics[/i:654c4848f0] anyways, can I back all of this up somehow using special keyboard skills? Let me know how to do it ...... ha !!!
