Farmall F20

I have a farmall f20 with a junk motor, I am interested in putting in a Chevy 350. Will it mount up to the transmission on the tractor or will I have to get another transmission for the motor?

I did asimilar thing with an F12.Put in a 2.8L V6 from a BroncoII There is a short driveshaft between. Install clutch on flywheel.install 350 bell housing. Dismantle a transmission for it's input shaft. 'Plug' in the input shaft into the 350 clutch. Machine the opposite end of input shaft to accept the coupleing on the tractor transmission. You will have to 'reengineer' the clutch linkage.Acctually pretty easy.

all depends on how crazy you want to get. you can go with a trans off the 350, standard or auto, and attach to the tractor trans. dont forget you need a governor for it to pull well. will require machine shop work.

When those tractors were repowered for field work you had to use the clutch and transmission that came with the engine and that transmission was ran in a low gear to compensate the low factory engine speed of the tractor and the high engine speed of the car engine. If you did not do that the ground speed was just too fast to be able to use them. Tractor engine I non't know but guessing a 1,000 RPN or less and that car engine at over 2'000 RPM. Now if you just want it for a tractor drive you might get by without gearing down and just idling that car engine. I have a friend - family member that still has a F-20 and a F-30 that he did that to years ago when he was farming. Think he has a straight 8 Chrysler engine in the F-30 and he pulled a 5-12" bottom plow with it.
