I ordered a gas tank for a 9n Ford tractor and when I got it the threads for the sediment bulb assembly would not fit the threads in the tank. The threads in the tank are metric. I don?t want to send it back so how can I fix it to where the threads from the sediment bulb assembly would work.

Had just the opposite, the bowl threads would not fit my old tank. Was able to take both old and new bowls apart and replace bad part in old bowl-valve with just the new part out of the bowl that would not fit tank. For you sounds like you might have to get a new bowl as well.

Have you ran a tap in the threads... Its not uncommon to run into that on chines pipe threads are any chines thread as far as that goes... :twisted:

There's no easy fix for that.
Have you checked the thread pitch? I believe that's 1/4" or 3/8", either way, BPT is 19 thread per inch, NPT is 18 thread per inch. That is the first thing to determine. If it is 18 pitch, possibly it just wasn't tapped deep enough or it heat warped during installation. In that case it could be retapped.
If it is BPT, trying to tap it will most likely result in an ongoing leak. You can probably get the NPT fitting to screw in, but it won't be right.
The options are to find or make an adapter, or drill out the original fitting and weld in a NPT fitting.
