got the back field cut today, 1st time using the ih-100 after it's overhaul, WOW what a difference compared to the old case t-10 pitman style, with the faster sickle speed and belt drive it's way smoother and just walks through the heavy alfalfa/timothy, I am very happy with it, couple of stops for minor plugs but just backed up dumped the bar and right back in to cutting. cut my mowing time in half I was running along in 1st. high, it's a huge improvement with the live pto and more than enough hp. some pics and will try loading a couple of videos.

thank you guys, I was very happy with the whole set up, the ih-100 certainly lived up to it's reputation as one of the best sickle mowers out there. it is so smooth and quiet compared to my old shakey case t-10, with the live pto and the m5 with all that torque it just walked through the heavy alfalfa/timothy like I was mowing the lawn

That M5 is sure a pretty thing. Hard for me to get used to folks still using sickle bar mowers- we have rainy springs in Pacific northwest, so the grass is pretty well knocked down by haying time, and almost impossible to cut with a sickle bar mower. We've been using disc and drum mowers and mower conditioners for about 40 years in these parts, can't remember the last time I saw a sickle bar mower at work.

Yes way to much HP there...you need to come and get the JetStar that I have. It is a cool tractor too. Factory 3pt, power steering and live hydraulics.

(quoted from post at 19:04:32 07/28/18) What brand grass blade is that on the end? My back up NH 456 needs a new one and I like that one.
those are ih double sections on the end of the knife, the grass/swath board is ih original from factory, and it did a real nice job rolling the hay back a good foot from the edge. overall T.F. I was very impressed with how it cut, most of the field the hay was almost up to the top of the back wheels and it layed it down with no problem. the last 3 years using the case 310b with no live pto and only 25 to 30 hp. it was struggling on this hilly field, used to take me 3 hours or more to cut it today was 1 1/2 hours just cruising along about 3 miles an hour or so.
