Working on a Kuhn GF 502 tedder that one side will not raise using the hydraulics. you can pick up the side be hand and lock okay. the cylinder has been rebuilt. shop said the oil was dirty. Hoses have swap around and still have the same problem on the same side. Have operated the hydraulics with hose off of cylinder and oil flows out the hose great.
What could be the problem or what are we doing wrong ???? Thanks for any and all advice.

Tim pretty simple IF you cylinder shop rebuilt the cylinder they most likely put the piston packing on wrong. You can take the left hoes and swap with the other side to be sure but if you have hydraulic pressure at the cylinder inlet and it does not pick up then has to be in the cylinder. Take the cylinder off and swap it to the other side and see what happens.

that's my guess. if you swapped hoses side to side with same results, some body messed up the packing. but sounds like they left it out completely.

Look at the cylinder, determine which hose raises it.

Disconnect and cap the other hose, leaving the cylinder port open.

Start up and try to raise it up. If the cylinder does not move, but oil flows out the open port, the cylinder is bypassing internally.
