Looking for low cost SMV signs or decals. lowest I've found is in the $15.00 area, highway robbery IMO. Gotta be a lower cost alternative...I hope.

Our local Farm & Fleet store has them from $7.99 to $9.99,I don't know what Tractor Supply gets for them but they should be competitive.

Just because it is the correct SHAPE does not mean it meets the correct reflectivity (sp?) specifications, also there are at least two standards. I checked my saved articles, but must have deleted it, but the standards cover both reflectivity and durability.

Well there ya go Bret ..... a chance to get into business making SMV signs and sell them for $7 and make a million bucks. Like you though, I am amazed when I
drop into a store and check out some of the prices on things, but nothing is cheap as they say.

Bret complete plastic sign with all quick mount hardware and bracket, free just e mail me your address and pay what ever the postage is. jm.

You know we all should be watching our money but that should include the gas and/or freight in finding an item of interest. Paul

I never could figure out why SMV sign$ are so expensive.
Just another marketing thing to rook the consumer cause they know they have to have them.
And I just hate to see them as driveway markers and other non correct use!

A good SMV sign that can be seen from a long distance and lights up real bright as soon as car lights hits it at night means the difference between life and death. How much money do you place on your life?

And more....
There is a state police officer here locally who is responding to residents who are using SMV signs incorrectly, on gates, driveway markers, etc. and the local Farm Bureau has put notices in their publication about the correct use.

If you really think the price is too high, you technically only need one SMV - on a removable bracket on the tractor. You then just need to buy the little bracket for all the implements. Whenever you're driving the tractor alone, you have the SMV on it. When you hook onto an implement, you take the SMV out of the bracket on the tractor and move it to the bracket on the implement you're pulling. 1 tractor, 1 SMV. 3 tractors, 3 SMVs. One other advantage to this plan is there won't be an SMV on an implement pulled by a pickup. You're not supposed to display an SMV on equipment going more than 25mph.

Personally I just buy the stickers and put them on all my equipment. I don't think +/- $10 for each implement is too expensive if it stops one person from running into me. I also put reflective tape on the leading RH corner and the rear corners.

The law is the law. It really doesn't make much sense to use SMV signs as markers for driveways and mailboxes and have people become complacent about them, that leads to more accidents. Same thing with the clowns putting DOT HazMat signs on their vehicles. Might seem petty, but the law is the law.

That's a good idea.
