GeoTH-in the previous thread said he wished he hadn't bought a John Deere H with a cultivator because it burned up in a barn.
I know the feeling.....

Had it out to my friends house in his garage. He used it to blade his long driveway and haul firewood. We think someone torched his garage to cover up a theft. His big Dolmar chainsaw is nowhere to be found. He always keeps it in a plywood sleeve in the front of the garage. He found 2 little saws right away, but the big one is gone! So's my 61 Fergie.

He's got replacement cost insurance and the agent indicated they'd take care of it. We'll see!

Sorry to hear about that, at least it's insured but that doesn't help when you might need it now. Usually there are two values to a tractor, what you are willing to pay for it and what you are willing to sell it for. Maybe they will be somewhere in between those figures, often they are way off.

Terrible loss, wishing you the best in finding a replacement. Does anyone know if engine block can be saved or is it too stressed/deformed from the Fire?

ah dam it daisyman that just makes me sick seeing what some some sick twisted ba***ard did to your tractor and friends shop, I sure hope they catch the S.O.B. and skin him alive

Thanks for all your concern. I'd like to skin the bugger alive myself. Nothing I hate worse than a thief. Thank goodness I hadn't restored it yet. The first picture was on the lot where I bought it. I'd done some body work on the hood and put a couple new valve springs in it. Also, rebuilt the starter. It had a bad back rim on it and I had just blasted and painted a spare wheel and took it out to him. It was in the garage too. It's now 1/2" out of round, probably no good either. Grrrr!

Nah, why use a perfectly good rope on scum like that?

As he messed up that tractor, find the scum and use him as a jack stand for the tractor!
