I want to tractor pull. I have a Int 560 but I have motion sickness or vertigo,so I have to sit low.I want to pull farm stock, but I need something that will compete with those farmall Ms.Does any one know if a Major would handle a M? My 4000 3cly want.If a 5000 major would pull good, I could pull in 5500 up.I can buy a major cheap.63 years old and want to do two pulls a year, just a little fun.

A W6 McCormick. 'low slung', is the same hp as an 'M'.Since you have motion sickness/vertigo,can you safely pull?Maybe you could build a roll 'cage' for safety to keep you from falling off, should you have trouble. Be safe,Have fun!

you couldn't prove it by me that the Major would out pull an M I think they wouldbe a pretty good match. The M has more tire on the ground with the taller tire and about the same width unless the tires are the original 12-38's. I have not seen an M that is used on a regular basis around here get those little tires put on when changed. Usually they put 14's or 15.5's on for replacements. Ours has 14.9's on it.
Majors here only had on 14 or 16 28's maybe 30 's around here so I still say it would be a close match.

You can check out the Nebraska Tractor tests yourself. It looks like the <a href="http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2153&context=tractormuseumlit">Super Major</a> diesel is on a par with or slightly more powerful than the <a href="http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1593&context=tractormuseumlit">Super M</a> gasser.

Compare the stats of the super major to a Ford 860. The HP is very close, while the super major is nearly twice as heavy. It has a low power to weight ratio. If you plant to pull sled, generally speaking you want more power. You will be able to enter the 3500 class with an 860.
