Kioti vs Kubota

Keep hearing the Kioti is a tractor to look at in the 50-100 HP range. How do they compare to the Kubota? Korea vs Japan. How do the warranties compare? Or, is dealer service the most important thing. Our Korean LandTrac is getting fixed for the last time!

A friend of mine has a snow removal business, with over twenty 100hp 4wd tractors. He always bought Kubota, but for the last couple of years he's been buying Kioti, and saves over $10k per tractor. He's happy with them so far.
I've always heard that the Kubota is a better built tractor though

We are on our 2nd Kioti, no serious issues with the first one (35hp), just upgraded to a 45hp. So far they have both performed well and they spec out well compared to Kubota especially when you factor in the price. I think they are a little less refined than Kubota and the quality is maybe not as good but still well worth it for the money. I?ve asked way too much of ours and it delivers - only 700ish hours on it so far so time will tell. They also tend to weigh a bit more than comparable tractors which I like. Good luck. Sam.

Around here lots of Kubota dealers. Have no idea where you could even find a Kioti dealer or any service work. Northwest Ohio. Without an established dealer network I would not even consider a Kioti or any other make without that established dealer network of old time dealers.

I've used some kiotis and like them. 2 dealers within about an hour or less near us. Never had a problem though so never needed them.

Can buy parts for practically every kubota ever built. Already hear of folks having trouble getting parts for 10-15 year old Kioti's. I looked very hard at a Kioti DK55 in 2004 but glad I got a Kubota.

Recently Kioti has had better incentives and often better pricing than Kubota but such would need to be MUCH better for me to seriously consider one.

If you go the Kioti route, research your dealer(s) VERY carefully. Lots of Kioti dealers are short lived.

(quoted from post at 14:08:57 07/23/18) Not necessarily a guy posted here awhile back that couldn't buy an oil filter to fit his fairly new Kubota even from Kubota

May I ask filter part # or model Kubota tractor that filter was NLA from Kubota?

I would be shocked if that isn?t a case of bad parts man. I know at our local lawnmower oriented Kubota dealer I sometimes have to provide them with the part number or spin the screen around to run the computer for them.

Having been a KUBOTA dealer for well over 30 years I am not going to down the tractor but I will say this .The Kioti marketing plan is not building dealers. They offer a 10% new dealer discount so yes if you find a NEW dealer he can sell you a tractor at a savings or he as a dealer can make more profit. What I see is dealers going in and selling a few for the first year then once that 10% is off the customer goes to the next Kioti dealer and that just continues the chain of dealerships going out. Traditional Farmer always has some negative when we talk Kubota. His comment that a guy could not get a filter is either one of two things the guy is not telling the truth or the guy went to a dealer that did not know his parts. About 6 different filters will cover the KUBOTA line up. Now granted there is probably no less than 40 oil filter part numbers but the part number is backed to the source of the filter not always to what it fits. Like TX Jim if he will send me the tractor model and serial number I will dang sure get him an oil filter.

You offered to let the man have some NOS filters you had.So why didn't you give him the right part number? Kioti dealer in my area Tractor Hill in Mineral VA has been in business for about
20 years with the same owner and his family BTW.Kubota place in Orange VA has changed hands several times in the same time period.

It was a cartridge filter for the frame mounted water separator / filter, the bump in the filters metal cap isn't right in the newer cartridge for the older late 80's Kubota compact tractor for an unknown reason. Can update to newer separator or change filter housing types to a generic one.

I ran into this in my boat as well, the top of the line Raycor water separator from 1998 wouldn't take any current cartridges so changed to a newer spin on filter base.

I would like to see that post too. Very hard to believe

Bill I suggest that you look into Kioti's resale value. A major factor to me has been the very high resale value of Kubota which of course has a major impact on the cost of ownership. I traded an '86 in on a 2001 and got approx. 90% of my purchase price back.

Actually selling something on the open market and trade in at the same brand place are two totally different things, they jack the price on the new one to make buyers think they are getting a lot for their trade in,not just Kubota all brands do that.

Friend made mistake and Bought a new YTM 55 hp a year ago. Dealer promised him good service. He now regrets not spending more and buying something locally from a reputable and local dealer.

You may also look at how will you get your tractor serviced if it breaks down in field.
Who will haul it to the dealer if you don't have a large enough trailer and truck?

I expect there are some parts that Kubota no longer supports but that's the same with every manufacturer. I have a Kubota rtv and haven't needed much for parts at all for it. I just this year bought a Kubota tiller that hasn't been sold in the US for 40 years. It needed a few small parts to get it running good. Everything I've needed was available. The dealer didn't have them in stock of course but they did order them. My mom has a smaller JD front tine tiller from the same time frame. They quit selling parts for it some 30 odd years ago because that's how long it's been sitting in the junk pile.

It?s a manufacturing problem as the dimple was wrong and you could simply replace the separator with the later serial range to make it fit. Lots of other manufacturers have same thing, parts are superceeded as the models age.

The thing is if he wanted show stopping part like a gear for the transmission or a casting, Kubota will get you one. Try that with some brands after 15 years old and you?re out of luck.

What part for a 15 year old tractor have you tried to get and wasn't available? I can get any filter I need for any of my 40+ year old Oliver,David Brown,Fiat and AC tractors.Wonder how many Kubota parts will be available for the tractors they make now in 50 years or so?

My 2005 Massey, can?t buy the alternator mount that attaches to the timing cover for the Perkins as they revised it, now have to buy retrofit kit that changes the accessories drive mounts for closer to 1000$ which does fix the original problem of it breaking off at least. Even in 2000 couldn?t buy the proper rear window latch, they had a generic repair kit that came labelled as Fendt that you changed all the parts over to that style with the right selection of spacers and blocks. I know I?ve run into other makes with the same issues. The trouble with newer tractors is a big run of them is in the low thousands not the tens thousands like older models.

Around here finding a Kioti dealer would be like hunting for hen's teeth. They start out and sell a few tractors and then quit. The Kioti tractor itself is not a bad machine but dealer support can be spotty. I just looked and in the ENTIRE state of Iowa they have two dealerships. If you can sell tractor in the heart of farm country then some thing is wrong.

I looked up Kubota dealerships and they have 16 dealerships On the east side of I-35. I know they have more west too but 16 proved the point. LOL

The only way I would even think about a Kioti tractor is to have a good local dealership, that has sold them for at least 10 years. PLUS then plan to keep the tractor forever.

The reason I say that is Kioti resale is terrible. Especially when compared to Kubota. Whatever you save up front will be more than eat up when you go to trade or sell. Just a fact. Remember that lower purchase price drives the value of existing USED Kioti tractors down.

You are right about jacking prices and inflating trade in prices. I recently bought a new car. Dealer asked what I was trading in. I told him no trade in. It's live giving your car away when you trade it in.

I went Indy and bought a new luxury XT5 for less than I could buy a base model Buick enclave locally. Some dealers want to deal. And you are right about jacking up prices.

Traditional farmer, everbody over 12 years old knows this and just takes it into account. As you say it is done everywhere, but as you don't say it is done to greatly varying degrees. If everyone knows something why bother saying it?

I abandoned the idea of the "cheap" tractors myself. Too much negative press on various reviews. I like simple, but I don't like cheap, and it seems most of them are cheaper than they are simple. The only complaint I've heard on Kubota is the weight, and that can either be helped with weights, or not an issue at all, depending on how you're using it. It seems that Kubota has the go to reputation for the under 70 hp tractors.

(quoted from post at 05:02:51 07/24/18) You must not know it claiming how much you got for your tractor.

T.F. it is very simple. You just do an appropriate amount of shopping around, LOL. As others have said there are a good number of Kubota dealers around, who have been in business for many years.

Here in Ohio finding that Kioti dealer would be like looking for those hens teeth. Within 15 mile of me there are 3 Kubota dealers, one stated at least 30 years ago with the Kubota, other 2, one was a Ford tractor dealer for unpteen years and other Case-Ih after being IH for 40 years. Just added the Kubota line. Only dealer in that 15 mile that does not handle Kubota is the Deere dealer that started out as Deere in the 20's. After being IH before that,
