How I Work on My Zero Turn

I have a Country Clipper and the mower deck lifts up to a vertical position with the mower itself only tilted a small bit. It's too heavy for me to lift by myself so I use a chain hoist. Nice mowers and I have one with a joy stick control instead of the 2 levers. The deck goes just pat dead center so it can't fall back on you, and the chain hoist is still hooked to it to let it back down.

I need to sharpen the blades on my Dixie Chopper. This time I'll try a floor model transmission jack. If it works it will be a lot easier than the come along and the A frame.

I use whatever is convenient at the time. Always safety equipment, stand jacks or whatever installed. I saw a movie of a hot rod enthusiast in California
whereby his hot rod fell on him....not pretty and will never forget it.

Bingo!! The Country-Clipper is the first zero-turn I've owned or operated. When I was shopping, and saw it had the joy-stick control along with the stand-up deck, I was sold.

In recent years some changes and improvements have been made to the stand-up deck. Supposedly it is MUCH easier now.

With my old Grasshopper I just picked the front of the deck up with the chain hoist or cherry picker, whichever was handy at the time. The new Grasshopper has an electric tilting deck. At first I thought the electric tilt was a frivolous waste of money but now that I've had it for ten years I find myself cleaning the underside of the deck after nearly every time I mow because it's so easy to do. For anyone who buys any brand of mower that has an electric tilt deck I do recommend it.

Someone told me my 27HP Kawasaki motor on
my Gravely didn't like to go vertical as
oil gets into places it shouldn't. I now
"extend" the length of auto ramps with
cribbing timbers so I can drive the mower
up and completely on top of them. Gives me
enough room to work underneath.
