Rotary mower question

I'm thinking about getting a bat wing mower to mow CRP with. I have an old Lundell flail chopper that I pull with my Oliver 1850, but it leaves a strip in the center for the weeds to grow taller and then it needs recut sooner. I looked online at Yarger Machinery Sales in Kewannee, Ill. They have a Woods 3180 for $4900 and a Landpride RCFM 45180 for $2900. Which brand is better or are they of equal quality? The Woods looks a little rougher to me than the Landpride. I need to go look at them both and decide, just looking for some input, Thanks, Chris

Both are good mowers but the land pride is actually at a good price point provided it is field ready, that model at auction brings 3500-4000 pretty steady, the Woods is on the high price side from the similar units I have seen sell recently, might be due to brand preference in that area. If everything checks out more or less equal condition wise then the land pride looks to be a good buy but I would still try an offer because they solicit offers on their website.

I would pick the land pride. Looks better and is cheaper. But is does the Woods have double wall top. No where for grass to catch. I have a Land Pride. 15 ft. It is a pain to clean. Will never have another one without a clear top.

I would look hard at the Land Pride. It actually looks in better shape mechanically. The Woods has some damage to the deck on the lower right hand corner of the right wing. The Land pride paint is in worse shape because it has set out side with grass on top of it to rust it. Buy it bring it home and wire brush it off some and brush some good paint and primer on it and mow for years with it. Land Pride is a good company to deal with too.

Had a land pride and hated it. The way the hitch was attached a bolt would break constantly but that is a totally different hitch design. They are a pain to clean but carry a leaf blower with you and clean it each time. Don?t let it get wet and nasty. All that being said I would hands down go with the land pride for one reason. It has stump jumpers. May not be any big deal in your neck of the woods but it is where I live
