Here in southwest WI the corn is in tassel. Mine was planted the first week of May. Never had it tassel this early. Looks like a great crop. There is even some dry weather in the forcast to go back to making hay and maybe chop some oats for silage. Tom

I don't think Ohio is there yet ,but some early planted fields are really tall. Some were planted late and are barely up. VERY wet here as we have had lots of rains and hot temps.

Here in western Colorado, the corn is knee to hip. some of the earliest on the best ground is waist high .It's been so dry that there hasn't been even one 'flake' that has been rained on.However, hay yields are down 30 to 50 %. Some more than that......:(

Tom,

I'm near Belmont. Where are you located? The corn planted around here is getting ready to tassel too. It may have been planted in late April.

I have a 1/2 acre of sweet corn with tassels. Not throwing pollen just yet but I'm close. My corn is shoulder to head high and looking real nice. The seed corn grower next door(25 yards away)has corn that is just knee high and not looking very good. I'm hoping my corn is done before his start tasseling so I don't end up with seed corn sweet corn mix like I did last year. I'm ready to fill my freezer and eat.

In PEI Eastern Canada the corns hardly a foot tall yet! Usually tassels here around the first- middle of August

Here in s.w.central Iowa corn over 6 ft and tasseling on july 4th. Never have I seen this before that I can remember.

Coshocton ohio corn tasseled 4 days ago... also my sweet corn at same time, been picking ripe tomatoes for a week, never had anything ripen this early before, been a good year.
