Springfield tractor

I know there has been forums about this, but am unable to post to it, Anyway...
Just wondering if anyone has anymore info on some of these Springfield tractors. I just bought one at an auction It's a Springfield 66LT-525. From that model, I'm guessing it's a 1966 and supposed to have a 25 inch mowing deck (Missing). I don't really know anything else, except it has a 5HP Tecumseh, and from the little reading, found it could be original? It's a neat tractor, and I like the steering, which is handle bar type instead of a steering wheel!!! I plan on rebuilding the engine (currently not running), and restoring the tractor, but I would like to get as much info, and possibly a manual of some sort, so I can get it as accurate as possible. Thank you all for your time!!! (There should be a pic along with this post)

Am afraid I cannot be of much help to you, especially as I'd never heard of them before. However, found a few things (minor things) that came up on a few searches.

This link is for a Springfield advertisement from 1960:

Here's another ad, but don't know a year:

This is a list of different Springfield models as listed on TractorData:
http://www.tractordata.com/lawn-tractors/tractor-brands/springfield/springfield-lawn-tractors.html
And this is the info that they have for your model:
http://www.tractordata.com/lawn-tractors/001/4/4/1448-springfield-lt525.html

Lastly, this link shows what "few" pics are readily available out there:

Springfield mowers were built from 1961 to 1966, but apparently sold out to Toro after losing a lawsuit against Simplicity.

...And that's all I got. There's just not much info out there.

Thank You for taking the time to look some of that stuff up, I hadn't seen some of that stuff, like the advertisements before!!! I've kind of run into the same thing, just not finding much info on these tractors. A couple people from my town, said they though they were kind of an orangish red color, which is kind of what the small decal on the tractor looks like. Everywhere else is just rusty brown.
I thought I posted a pic, but I don't think it went through. Ill try again, because the pic on tractor data is a little off. Mine doesn't has a steering wheel. Also, another thing I'm not sure on is the year to model. According to tractordata, LT 525 is only made in 1965, but the model number I have is 66LT-525, which would lead me to believe it is a 1966?
Anyway, I know I'm probably just trying to figure out to much in a short time, hopefully I can just continue to learn more and more as I go. It's a good thing I enjoy doing this kind of stuff!! Anyway, thanks again for the info

WOW now that brings back a few memories. My grandfather was a Springfield dealer and had a fairly sized power equipment dealership in the 60's 70' and into the 80's. Springfield was the early Toro. Not sure exactly when they got bought out but you'll notice that the early Toro's didn't change much from Springfield origins. 1967 give or take.
4 grandsons all within 4 years of each other used to race to the dealership every day to get the chance to drive them out to the lot and front porch. Unfortunately have no information left as it went out of business 35 years ago. They were the first thing any of us drove that had wheels and a motor, so that was something that we all remember very well. My granddad would just smile as we all moved the fleet. It's a miracle that none of us drove one off the porch. I remember that they were built very well and held up to excessive young boy testing.
My dad got rid of a bunch of scrap several years back when prices were up and got rid the one we had when I was growing up. It actually still would run and mow had 32" deck very rugged and mowed great. I didn't kill it, that in itself was a miracle.
Have fun with it!
This is just like the one we had at home.

I like doing these kind of restoration projects. I saw it at an auction, and bid on it because it's kind of a local tractor, which I thought was cool. My kids were excited to see this tractor come to the shop, especially my 4 year old. He has informed me that it's mine and his tractor. I wish there was more info on some of these tractors. I'm pretty sure I have the paint colors for the tractor, because I was able to peel of the old decals and expose the original paint. I'm pretty sure I have enough of the engine to rebuild it, maybe missing a few pieces (I'm usually a Briggs guy, but I'm going to keep this original- It's a 5 Hp Tecumseh). I don't have the mower deck, so unless I find one it will be more of a parade tractor. The only other thing I am missing is the foot rest above the left front tire, not sure yet what I'm going to do about that yet, but I think it will be a fun project!! I will try to keep pics of the restoration. I'm going to try and be done by Labor Day (West Liberty's annual tractor show)
