I have a New Holland Hay Maker's Handbook that must be 40 years old. It was old when I got it, but most of the information was still spot on. The major difference was the desirability to have the "twist" of the hay in your windrow to help the baler to pick it up, along with the need to bale in the same direction of travel as the rake went.

They "knew" you bought a different baler based on your Internet post.

Big brother is always listening.

I think you might be right ? I would have bought a new Holland but I hate the twine arm design the hesston and John Deere have the twine arm that go flat in front of the bale i you might rethread the twine arms once a field . The new Holland come up in a v and then drop down in front of the bale they tried to update the arms some have a plug that supposed to hold the twine from pulling out doesn?t work the new ones have a leaf spring that?s supposed to hold the twine doesn?t work

I have an old new Holland grass land manual that? has a
copyright date of 1962 it must be a first edition because that?s
the only copyright date in it . It has a lot of good information in
it . That twisted windrow can help especially if the hay gets
way to dry for whatever reason or it?s a real thin crop . As far
as raking the same direction that? has its reasons to but it?s
impossible when your double raking when you cut with a
sickle mower or only raking one windrow it can be done
